When asked if he was shown other things, Soul E answered in the affirmative revealing that two governors will die before the end of 2015. He told me two northern governors will go, they will die before the end of 2015. This is what God showed me.

The baby was born to a 16-year-old girl in the nation’s Eastern Cape and she died a day later at the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital. The baby also had no nose and the one eye was set in the middle while the remaining area was covered with skin.

According to reports: The birth of yet another deformed infant to a 16-year-old mom from the Eastern Cape has raised serious concerns. The Eastern Cape Health Department is now calling for research into why so many babies were being born with deformities in the province.

Eastern Cape spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo told the South Africa news agency that some 50 deformed babies have been born in the region in the past two years and there is no “documented cause” for the growing trend.

Describing the baby girl born on Saturday at the Dr Malizo Mpehle district hospital in Tsolo, near Mthatha, Kupelo said: “She was born with a small man-hood on the forehead and one eye on the forehead.”
“She was born with no nose and where there are supposed to be eyes there was nothing, just skin covered over the area.”

Earlier this month, a pair of conjoined twins were born also at the Dr Malizo Mpehle district hospital in Tsolo, SAPA reported, adding that they were the fifth set of conjoined twins to be born in the region in the past year and half. Other deformities witnessed in the area include babies with their hearts and brains exposed, as well as babies born with multiple penises and legs.

Doctors in the area remain “in the dark” as to the root cause of the growing number of deformed babies, Kupelo said and has asked specialists and researchers to help determine the cause.

He also hopes to bring in more pediatrics specialists. In most cases, babies born with deformities die, but “where necessary we attempt procedures but unfortunately the majority die,” Kupelo said .

Jonathan Endorses Computer-based Test For UTME

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said that President Goodluck Jonathan had endorsed the recently introduced Computer Based Testing (CBT) for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Fabian Benjamin, Head of Public Relations of JAMB on Thursday in Bwari, Abuja.

The statement said that Jonathan endorsed the CBT while addressing officials of the Netherlands examination body also known as CITO in Holland.

“The introduction of the CBT marks a new examination regime that will revolutionise the education sector,” the statement quotes Jonathan as saying.

The statement said that the president reiterated his administration’s commitment to provision of qualitative education and to making the sector a model.

It said that Jonathan called for partnership between CITO and Nigerian examination bodies in the conduct of e-testing and other forms of electronic innovations in Nigeria.

The statement said that the president promised to ensure that the board was adequately financed to establish centres to conduct the CBT during the forthcoming UTME.

Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, Registrar of JAMB, at the forum, said that the collaboration with CITO would help the board to administer the test.

Ojerinde said that there were some challenges experienced in the conduct of the last UTME, using the CBT.

He, however, said that the body was determined to resolve the challenges.

The registrar said that 100,000 candidates in 55 centres took the 2013 UTME, using CBT.

“Based on the success of the test last year, more of the UTME candidates have indicated interest in the CBT.

“This year, the examination will be taking place in 153 centres with 600,000 candidates across the nation,” the statement quotes Ojerinde as saying.

Ojerinde explained that the CBT was introduced to curb examination malpractice, result black-out and other challenges undermining the paper pencil test. [NAN]

Testing Battery Life Across Media Players and Video Formats

Video playback is one common case scenario where efficiency is crucial and where a lengthy battery life is an infrequently found godsend. But what you may not realize is that the video player itself, and the format your videos are encoded in, can also have an impact on power consumption.

Battery life is a critical aspect to consider when purchasing a new portable device. Hardware companies are targeting efficiency more than ever, and while battery life has certainly improved in recent years, there’s always more that can be done.
Video playback is one common case scenario where efficiency is crucial and where a lengthy battery life is an infrequently found godsend. Hopping on an intercontinental flight and wanting to catch up on Game of Thrones? The number of episodes you can watch is going to be dictated by your laptop or tablet’s battery life, and of course, settings like screen brightness and background tasks.
But what you may not realize is that the video player itself, and the format your videos are encoded in, can also have an impact on battery life consumption. Or do they?

Over the course of the last two weeks, I’ve been digging deep into what the optimal playback setup is for lengthening battery life. Throughout more than 145 hours of testing, I’ve looked at a range of Windows video players, including the stock Windows 8 app, Windows Media Player, VLC and MPC-HC, plus many encoding formats such as H.264, Xvid, and the all-new HEVC format.
This article won’t give you a rundown of every possible playback combination on every hardware platform – testing this would take far too long to be reasonable – but the results compiled so far are certainly enlightening.

Testing Video Players

Before we looked at video formats, we need to establish which video player is the most efficient. I chose some of the most popular Windows apps for the desktop and for the Modern/Metro interface. But first, it’s worth discussing hardware.
Our primary testbed was a Lenovo Miix 2 8 tablet based on Intel’s ‘Bay Trail’ Atom platform. We’re talking about a 1.33 GHz quad-core Z3740 SoC with a 667 MHz Intel HD Graphics GPU, WXGA display and 2 GB of RAM, with the all-important capability of hardware accelerated H.264 decoding.
An Acer Ivy Bridge-based laptop was used as a secondary testing machine. The Aspire Timeline U M3-581TG has dual-core Core i7-3517U CPU clocked at 1.90 GHz with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU (the dedicated Nvidia graphics were disabled for testing), 4 GB of RAM and a WXGA display. At this stage I’ve only tested on Intel-based x86-64 hardware, but I may follow up this article by testing on ARM devices if readers show interest.

Ideally I would tested on Haswell hardware as well, but a Surface 2 Pro that I requested didn’t arrive in time for publishing. Haswell’s newer architecture is inherently more efficient than Ivy Bridge, although both chips are produced using a 22nm process and Haswell only has a small real-world performance advantage. I wouldn’t expect results to change much if we had tested Haswell.
The stock Windows 8 Videos app is the first video player we tested with. This is the default app that launches when you open many video types in the latest Windows revision, such as MP4. It’s a Metro-interface app with a limited feature set and limited format support, but it often gets the job done with little fuss. For those less Metro inclined, Windows Media Player is the default application for media playback in Windows, which was also tested throughout.
Choosing a third party video player wasn't too difficult, VLC is arguably the most popular of the bunch and is available in both desktop and Metro iterations. The VLC Metro app is relatively new, and even without looking at battery life data, it isn’t an app I would personally recommend as it only has a small subset of the desktop app’s features. It does boast support for a huge range of formats just like its desktop counterpart, but at this stage it’s premature and very buggy.
The desktop VLC app is a fantastic video player with a strong feature set. It’s known for its wide format compatibility and ease of use, making it the go-to video player for a large percentage of Windows users. By default, VLC doesn’t offload video processing to the GPU, but it can be enabled in the settings with ease (unlike the Metro app, which doesn’t use hardware acceleration at all). I tested VLC with hardware acceleration both enabled and disabled.

I also tested VLC’s main, but lesser known competitor, Media Player Classic – Home Cinema (more commonly known as MPC-HC). In the enthusiast community MPC-HC is known for its flexibility, reliability and (again) wide format support. MPC-HC hardware accelerates by default, and I only tested the software with default settings.
The final app I tested with is CyberLink’s Power Media Player (formerly PowerDVD Mobile), the third Metro app and the only one that’s paid ($15 in the Windows Store). Power Media Player has a somewhat weak feature set, but it’s less buggy than VLC Metro and has a wider range of formats supported. Critically, it supports Windows RT, making it one of the few apps for the platform that allows you to play MKV files, for example.
Hardware configurations were identical between tests: both the Acer Timeline M3 and the Lenovo Miix 2 8 were run at 75% brightness, in airplane mode, and with the video running fullscreen. The battery was charged fully to 100% between runs, and run to 0% while playing a loop of a sample video. The sample video in question is the same I use for all our mobile reviews' battery rundown tests: a Blu-ray rip of Toy Story 3 encoded in the most popular format, H.264, with a resolution of 1280 x 720, 6-channel AAC audio and an average bitrate of 2.5 Mbps.
If you were skeptical about the impact software could have on media playback and battery life, this is going to be an eye opener.

Immediately noticeable on the graph above is the wide gap between the most and least efficient video players. Between the Windows 8 Videos app and VLC for Windows 8, there’s more than three and a half hours of battery life when playing the same video; in other words, the Videos app will last 60% longer.
It’s pretty surprising just how efficient Microsoft’s Metro UI video player is. Compared to its desktop equivalent, Windows Media Player, the Videos app lasted 20% longer. And Windows Media Player performs quite well, benchmarking as the most efficient desktop player.
If you’re looking for a video player laden with extra features, it will cost you battery life. VLC is comparably inefficient as a video player, delivering 30% less stamina than the Videos app (with hardware acceleration enabled) and MPC-HC doesn’t perform much better (27% less stamina). The Miix 2 8 lasted 3 hours less when playing videos through VLC. It’s also interesting to note that when hardware acceleration is enabled, VLC lasts 13% longer than with it disabled.

Testing on an Ivy Bridge system gave similar results. The Videos app was 75% more efficient in our testing than VLC with hardware acceleration disabled, and 49% more efficient than Windows Media Player, presenting an even greater advantage to Microsoft’s Metro UI app than on Bay Trail. It goes to show the strides Microsoft has made to optimize Windows 8's Metro apps, even if only a share of users truly appreciate them.
Except for hardware accelerated VLC and MPC-HC, which switch places, all video players fall in the same order of efficiency. This time around, hardware accelerated VLC delivers just 7% better battery life than with the feature disabled, although it has a slight (2%) edge over MPC-HC.

How To Unlock Your Windows Phone Without A Developer Account

Do you want to try to create an app and run it on your Windows Phone phone without the need to create a developer account? Alternatively, would you like to test an app that a friend made but that has not been published in Windows Phone Store? 

Now can anyone unlock their phone and download apps onto it. You can only have two such apps on your phone, if you do not have a developer account, then you can have up to ten apps. To do this, you must first download the Windows Phone 8 SDK, and then use the Windows Phone Developer Registration Tool, which is installed with the SDK. Here is a description of this process. 

To register a phone, use the Windows Phone Developer Registration tool. This is a stand-alone tool that’s installed as part of the Windows Phone SDK. To register your phone by using the Windows Phone Developer Registration Tool 

1. Turn on your phone and unlock the phone screen. 

2. On your phone, ensure that the date and time are correct. 

3. Connect your phone to your computer by using the USB cable that came with your phone. 

4. On your computer’s Start screen, switch to All apps view. 

5. Under Windows Phone SDK 8.0, click Windows Phone Developer Registration. The app starts, as shown in the following image. 

6.Verify that the Status message displays Identified Windows Phone 8 device. Click the Register button to unlock the phone. If your phone is already registered, the Status message indicates this and you see an Unregister button. 

7. Click Register. 8.In the Sign In dialog box for your Microsoft account (formerly known as a Windows Live ID), enter the email address and password for your Microsoft account. 

Click Sign In. If you’re a registered developer, be sure to use the Microsoft account associated with your developer account. 9.After your phone is successfully registered, the Status message displays Congratulations! You have successfully unlocked your Windows Phone. Your phone is now registered. You can now deploy apps to the phone.

Nigerian students are really Improving, they are only handicapped by the non-working atmosphere and condition created for them. Here is a solar-powered vehicle built by Oyeyiola Segun, a Part 5 student of the Electronic and Electrical Department of Obafemi Awolowo University.

In an exclusive interview by OAU Peeps Forum, he explained how the car came into existence and the motivations behind it.
OAU Peeps: Can we meet you sir?
Segun: Okay, I am Oyeyiola Segun, a part 5 student of Elect-Elect., OAU
OAU Peeps: We learnt you built this lovely car. Was it a joint project or you did it yourself?
Segun: I did it only. This is not a day’s job, I have been working on it for some months now.
OAU Peeps: So how does the car work?
Segun: Basically it depends on Wind and Solar energy. All the energy derived for these two sources were converted to run the simple car. There are different means of obtaining energy from these two sources but I picked the one that is cool for my car.
OAU Peeps: From what you just said, you can either use the Wind or Solar Energy to power the car’s engine?
Segun: Not either energy, rather both energies are used to power the car.
OAU Peeps: Cool… that differentiates your production from the usual vehicles we see around us I suppose?
Segun: Yes, you are very correct.
OAU Peeps: Could you share with us what actually provoked your innovation? I mean what you thought before coming up with this lovely engine?
Segun: Basically, it is because of the climate change we experience due to the combustion of fuel and you know cars also contribute to that change. So I thought of running a car that will not use fuel for its locomotion. After series of thinking and research work, I came up with the simple method that gave birth to this. So that is the basic reason for the car. Another concern of mine is to produce a car that will function effectively at a reduced cost of maintenance. I believe you know the price of fuel in this country is almost going beyond the reach of a common man?
OAU Peeps: Yes, you are right. Is there any other peculiarity of the car that you will like to share apart from the once you have mentioned?
Segun: Of course yes. Another thing that distinguishes my car from the common ones you see around is that you can know the state of the car through your mobile phones. I wrote a software that you can install which will give you the basic information about the car while in your room.
OAU Peeps: What do you mean by the State of the car?
Segun: I mean the functionality of the car, like the battery level, the weather conditions, the distance you can cover during different weather conditions. In case you have a bad weather. The car also has a GPS in it that helps to know the location of the car. These and many other features embedded in it.
OAU Peeps: Wow! this is very lovely. Do you have plans replicating this nice work in the future?
Segun: The work has come to stay, but I need to keep improving it for now.
OAU Peeps: It took you how many years to put this together?  
Segun: That your question can be phased into two categories, do you mean mentally or physically?
OAU Peeps: Lol… you are right. Let us talk about the Physical aspect of it now.
Segun: Okay. We all know how our country is, I mean to get money is not easy but I pray that God will make it easy for everyone of us. The truth is, I cannot really say how long because I started using my personal little money to get the materials together. Let me just say about twelve(12) months.
OAU Peeps: Did you encounter any major challenge during this project?
Segun: Yes, Money. Even at the moment, I still need funds to get some others materials which are in my original paper design which I have not implemented on the car. OAU Peeps: What will be the summarized cost of this car when fully ready?
Segun: There are lots of things that will lead to summary cost of production, so for now I cannot specifically state the cost but with all the materials that I will be needing since I am not producing in large quantities, its close to a million naira. Now quantifying my effect and others on foreseen cases.
OAU Peeps: Finally, your message to fellow Nigerian students?
Segun: My message to my fellow students is that Rome was not built in a day. It is better to start anything you want to do now and don’t never, I repeat, never expect someone to believe in your dreams because they may not understand it as you do. Endeavor to follow your heart and do what will make you happy and that which will not affect your fellow being negatively. May God help and bless us all.

Former FIFA boss, Warner paid millions by Qataris – report

LONDON – A former senior official of FIFA and his family were paid almost $2 million (£1.2m) from a Qatari firm liked to the Gulf state’s successful bid for the 2022 World Cup finals, according to a report in Tuesday’s edition of Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.

The Telegraph said Jack Warner, the former vice-president of FIFA, appeared to have been personally paid $1.2 million (£720,000) from a company controlled by a former Qatari official shortly after the controversial decision to award the country the tournament.

Payments totalling almost $750,000 (£450,000) were made to Mr Warner’s sons, according to documents seen by the Telegraph. A further $400,000 (£240,000) was paid to one of his employees.
The Telegraph also said a company owned by Mohamed Bin Hammam, the then FIFA executive member for Qatar, appeared to pay $1.2 million (£720,000) to Mr Warner in 2011.

Bin Hammam, who launched an abortive challenge against incumbent FIFA president Sepp Blatter, resigned from his FIFA and Asian Football Confederation posts in 2012, shortly before was banned for life from football administration by the global governing body’s ethics committee.

Warner was one of the most experienced members of the executive committee until he stood down in 2011 and served as vice-president of FIFA for 14 years.
He was one of the 22 people who decided to award Russia the 2018 World Cup and Qatar the 2022 tournament.

Six weeks before the December 2010 vote in Zurich that decided the hosts of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, an official was caught in an undercover investigation agreeing to sell his vote. A second member of the same committee was recorded asking for £1.5 million for a sports academy. Both officials were suspended, meaning that 22 people voted instead of the usual 24.

The decision to give the World Cup to Qatar, a country with little football history, provoked widespread condemnation particularly over health concerns for leading players forced to play in the desert nation’s stifling summer heat.

Such was the backlash football chiefs are now considering moving the tournament to the European winter for the first time, even though this could have a severe adverse knock-on effect on some of the sport’s major domestic competitions such as the lucrative English Premier League.

There was a particularly bitter reaction to the whole process in England, the birthplace of modern-day football, after the country’s bid to stage the 2018 finals garnered a mere two votes and was eliminated in the first ballot.

Giving evidence to a subsequent British parliamentary inquiry, Lord David Triesman, the English bid’s former chairman, named Warner as four FIFA executive committee members had asked for business deals and favours when negotiating their support.

In June 2011, Trinidad-based Warner resigned from all football posts after he was accused of facilitating bribes to members of the Caribbean football union (CONCACAF) on behalf of Bin Hammam, who was standing against Blatter.

A FIFA ethics committee found there was “compelling” evidence Warner was “an accessory to corruption”.
The Telegraph said Warner and his family had declined to comment on their report but a spokesman for Qatar’s 2022 World Cup organising committee told the paper: “The 2022 bid committee strictly adhered to FIFA’s bidding regulations in compliance with their code of ethics.

“The supreme committee for delivery and legacy and the individuals involved in the 2022 bid committee are unaware of any allegations surrounding business dealings between private individuals.”(AFP)

Samsung Galaxy S5 to be €60 cheaper than S4 at launch

The South Korean publication ZDNet has confirmation on the Taiwanese launch price of the Galaxy S5 - TWD22,800 (KRW800,600 or €540). This is good €60 (KRW90,000) below the Galaxy S4 launch price of €600 from last year.

It seems the previous rumors of the Galaxy S5 being about $100 cheaper than its predecessor at launch may turned out to be true after all. The Galaxy S5 is going to hit the shelves worldwide on April 11, but there is still no official pricing announced from the Korean manufacturer.

Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to go on pre-order two weeks before launch. Many EU retailers have the Galaxy S5 already listed with prices, but those are unofficial and will be corrected once the retail pricing is confirmed.

D’Banj (Bangalee Eja nla) is a “legendary womaniser”, says UK newspaper

Nigerian music star, D’Banj, has been labelled a “legendary womaniser” by the UK Newspaper, Daily Mail.
The label was with respect to rumours of a romance between Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kenya Moore, and “Africa Prince”.

According to the Daily Mail, based on reports in Nigerian media, D’Banj is allegedly the African prince.
The rumours started after Moore posted her flight ticket to Lagos on Instagram. It was alleged that she spent Valentine’s Day with D’Banj and that she had paid him $400,000 to pose as her boyfriend.

Back then, D’Banj did not explicitly deny the rumour; instead he made a joke about it on his Twitter.
According to the recent Daily Mail report, D’Banj’s nickname, " Koko Master", is apparently a slang for someone who has a harem of woman and he has even brought out his own range of condoms.

SAD! 3 Persons Burnt To D**th As Fires Razes Ibadan Church

THREE persons, including a 92-year-old man, were burnt to death yesterday, when fire razed a church Mercyland Prayer Ministries at Idi Aro, Ibadan.

Four others, including a pregnant woman, escaped death in the fire that started at 1:45am. When Vanguard got to the scene, bodies of the burnt members of the church and a coffin were seen. What actually worsened the situation, according to residents in the area, were power generating sets which were filled with petrol.

Items burnt in the inferno are two power generating sets, two complete drum sets, ceiling fans, many sewing machines, plastic and wooden chairs. According to one of the lucky survivors, Mrs. Oyediran, an expectant mother, the fire started when worshipers were sleeping.

She said she tried to crawl outside, when a young man pulled her out. Demola, who rescued the woman, was quoted as saying that it was a herculean task pulling the pregnant woman out of thick smoke. At the time of filing this report, the three corpses were yet to be evacuated from the church. The son of the 92 year-old man said he was only interested in retrieving the corpse of his father.

The Police had taken the pastor of the church, Pastor Samuel Oyediran and the man who rescued the pregnant woman to the station for interrogation. Speaking on the incident, Director, Oyo State Fire Services, Mr. Oyekunle Kareem, confirmed it saying around midnight, a distress call was made to them that “there was a fire incident at Alaro and we rushed there immediately. “We put out the fire, but three bodies were recovered. Only the doctor can certify them dead.”

Simply put, while Wizkid makes hits, Davido drops monster hits.

Unlike Star Boy, the younger Adeleke is also a producer. He also repeats lyrics far less often, unlike Star Boy. He split with his former manager, Asa Asika when the latter began to bend the basic rule of music management: never outshine your act.

He’s also picked an efficient PR team that continues to weather the storm with him and his HKN label mates. More importantly, he’s graduated from being the One Week, One Trouble kid who couldn’t walk through the pottery class without breaking something to a modern-day Perseus gifted by the gods; his career taking flight like Pegasus. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the story of young David Adeleke.

Unbelievable! LASTMA Official Slaps Chief Magistrate

An official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, identified as Taye Shittu, has been arrested by the police at Pen Cinema Police Station for allegedly slapping a Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Komolafe Abimbola of Court 2 Ikeja, Lagos, western Nigeria. She was on her way to the office around Pen Cinema area of Agege when the incident happened on Wednesday.

Recent investigation revealed that Shittu accused Mrs. Abimbola of not obeying the traffic light and ordered her to come out of her car. SLAP NL Unbelievable! LASTMA Official Slaps Chief Magistrate She was said to have obeyed Shittu’s instruction after which there was an argument between them. During the argument Shittu was said to have slapped Mrs. Abimbola and she sustained injury on her face.


The victim reported the assault at Pen Cinema Police Station and Shittu was promptly arrested by the police. While confirming the incident, Lagos State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Damatus Ozoani, said the accused will be charged to court after the conclusion of police investigation. An official of LASTMA who craved for anonymity, said the attitude of Shittu was an embarrassment to the authority.

 A senior official of LASTMA who pleaded for anonymity also told us that Shittu has been tried internally and was subsequently dismissed from LASTMA and handed over back to the police for prosecution. “We have conducted a board room trial for him and he has been dismissed from the service. We have also handed him over back to the police for prosecution.

We do not condone such act in LASTMA,’’ said the source. As a result of the incident recently learnt that the court Mrs. Abimbola is presiding over could not sit yesterday as litigants had to take adjourment for their cases.

When we visited Pen Cinema Police Station this morning, Shittu was seen in handcuffs being taken to court by the police. Attempts by our reporter to speak with Shittu proved futile as he refused to talk and also hid his face from camera.
